High Street in 1904, Runcorn

Built 1864-66 this was one of Runcorn's most impressive buildings. It cost £8000 to build and was paid for by Thomas Hazlehurst, about whom more can be found on this website. The chapel came down in the great frenzy of destruction which hit Runcorn in the 1960's and 70's when it was being "developed" as a new town. It is now the site of a Health Centre. Only the wall and railings which seperate it from the footpath remain today.
