Docks Postcard 12

 Runcorn docks

This picture is taken from the "Alfred Pier" at Runcorn. The little hut in the centre sits at the end of "The Pier", The schooners are in the tidal dock which lay between "The Pier" and the River Mersey. This view was taken at high tide and before the Manchester Ship Canal was built, (therefore pre 1890 ). Across the Mersey can be seen the chemical facories of Widnes.
