Postcard Top Locks, Runcorn

Bridgewater Canal top locks basin at Runcorn c.1968

This view is at the "Top locks" and was taken probably in the 1960's. At this time the locks down to the Mersey had been, or just were about to be, closed and filled in. The canal basin here contains mostly pleasure craft. The first roadway viaduct from the (then) new high-level road bridge (now known as the "Jubilee Bridge") can be seen.

The reverse side of this postcard had not been used, and is not displayed
